make something worth passing around.

invitations, countdowns, and pages made to be passed around.

what lightweight public experience can i share?

01 / what this is

the things that actually get passed around are small, specific and slightly silly: a quiz about your own friend group, a bingo card for a programme nobody else watches, a game whose only rule is one your family made up. none of them justify an app, a site, or an afternoon — which is exactly why they usually do not get made.

they take one message now. you describe the joke and who it is for, your assistant writes a page that plays, and htmlshare gives it a url you can drop in a group chat. it opens on everyone’s phone with nothing to install, no account to make and nothing between the link and the thing. the fact that it is disposable is a feature: it cost you a minute.

two things to know. each person who opens the page gets their own copy of whatever it keeps — there is no shared scoreboard, no live lobby and no way to see other people’s answers, so design the game around that rather than fighting it. and an anonymous page is live for 24 hours, which is enough for one evening; claim it if the joke deserves to survive the weekend.

questions.

03 / questions
can people play against each other?

on the same device, yes — pass the phone, or put it on a laptop everyone can see. across devices, no: there is no shared state between browsers, so nobody can see anyone else’s score. the games worth making here are the ones that work in a room.

how do i send it to people?

paste the url into whatever group chat you already use. there is nothing to install and no account to make, which is the only reason anyone actually opens it. the link previews as a normal web page.

does it still work tomorrow?

if you claimed it. an anonymous page stops serving after 24 hours and has a seven-day recovery window behind that, which suits one party fine. claiming it keeps the same url alive for as long as you want it.

can i put photos of my friends in it?

you can, and you should think about who else can see them — a published page is public to anyone with the link and is not hidden from search engines. for anything you would not post publicly, keep it to names and inside jokes rather than images.
